Swimming Pool Heat Pumps
Owning a swimming pool in the UK requires an efficient and effective heating solution. At Mermaid Leisure, we specialise in specifying and installing air source heat pumps for all our new builds, as well as upgrading existing systems with the latest heat pump technology.
A swimming pool heat pump works like an air conditioning unit in reverse, transferring energy from the surrounding air into the water, to achieve your desired temperature. The fan expels air from the unit while drawing in air over the evaporator coil, transferring heat from the air outside to the refrigerant gas inside the pipes. This gas is then compressed, significantly increasing its temperature, and then passed through a heat exchanger that heats the pool water. Our state-of-the-art swimming pool heat pumps feature digital displays for easy temperature control. Our specialist F-gas registered engineers provide detailed instructions on using your unit and offer yearly servicing to maintain your warranty.
Enjoy a heated pool year-round with our top-of-the-range air source heat pumps, ensuring your swimming pool with heating remains comfortable and energy-efficient.
Air Source Heat Pump Running Cost
Swimming pool heating is a topic of great concern for many of our clients. At Mermaid Leisure, we understand these concerns and ensure that all our swimming pool heat pumps are not only efficient in heating but also cost-effective to run. Your yearly running costs will depend on various factors such as pool size, air temperature, and the length of your swimming season. Although the upfront cost of an air source heat pump may seem daunting, the long-term savings far outweigh this initial expense compared to older styles of pool heating. Typically, a heat pump’s cost is about one-fifth of the cost of an electric heating system, meaning those savings add up quickly.
Our core Norsup range is 50% more energy efficient than standard heat pumps on the market. They are also equipped with the latest inverter technology, ensuring optimal efficiency at all times. Although costs vary depending on many factors, choosing a model with a high COP rating (efficiency) will always work in your favor when it comes to making savings. Our core range has some of the highest COP ratings on the market – up to 16! Not only are pool heat pumps cost-efficient, but they are also one of the most environmentally friendly heating options for your pool. All our heaters run on R32 gas, a much safer and more environmentally friendly refrigerant than traditional models. Our expert team of engineers is always on hand to help you decide on the best heating system for you and your pool.
Air Source Heat Pump Installation
At Mermaid Leisure, we excel in installing air source heat pumps for swimming pools, bringing years of experience and expertise to every project.
When building a new pool, your dedicated project manager will meticulously design and plan your plant room setup, including the heating system. We ensure the optimal positioning, clearances, and bases are in place for your swimming pool heat pump. If you need to replace your current system, our engineers will thoroughly assess the proposed location and prepare the base for your new unit. Our specialised electrical company handles all necessary electrical work, ensuring seamless integration.
One critical consideration for a heat pump swimming pool heater is its performance in varying ambient temperatures. As air temperatures drop, the heat output decreases, so we carefully choose and size your heat pump to handle the lowest expected temperatures. Our all-season models ensure you get the most from your pool year-round.
With Mermaid Leisure, air source heat pump installation is seamless and stress-free. We handle everything from unit specification and positioning to installation, allowing you to simply enjoy your warm pool water. Our efficient heating solutions are perfect for extending the UK swimming season and providing a cost-effective way to heat your pool or swim spa.
