Areas we cover

• Which areas do you cover?

We work across Kent, East Sussex and the wider Sussex Weald, South London and selected parts of Surrey, generally within about 40 to 50 miles of our yard near Sandhurst in Kent.

In Kent that takes in Tunbridge Wells, Tonbridge, Sevenoaks, Maidstone, Cranbrook, Tenterden and Ashford. In East Sussex it’s Crowborough, Wadhurst, Mayfield and the countryside around them. In South London it’s Bromley and the neighbouring boroughs. Those towns are examples of where you’ll most often find us, not the limits of where we go.

• Do you build swimming pools near me?

If you’re within roughly 40 to 50 miles of Sandhurst then almost certainly yes, and that covers most of Kent, East Sussex, South London and the Kent and Sussex borders of Surrey.

If you’re a little further out, it’s still worth asking. We’ve travelled beyond our usual radius for the right project before now.

• How far do you travel from your base?

Our yard is at Oaklands Farm, Bodiam Road, Sandhurst, TN18 5LE, and we generally work within about 40 to 50 miles of it. That’s a guide rather than a strict boundary. How far we’ll travel depends on the project as much as the postcode.

Tell us where you are and what you’ve got in mind, and we’ll be straight with you about whether we’re the right team for the job.

• Do you cover Sussex as well as Kent?

Yes. East Sussex and the Sussex Weald are a big part of our work. We’re just north of the county line, so towns like Crowborough, Wadhurst and Mayfield are close to home for us.

A lot of what we do there is in larger rural gardens, where a pool becomes the heart of how a family uses the outside of their home.

• Do you offer more than new pool construction across these areas?

Yes. You get our full in-house team wherever you are in our area. As well as swimming pool design and construction, we handle refurbishment and renovation, servicing and maintenance, automatic and electric covers, enclosures, heating and air-source heat pumps, saunas and steam rooms, hot tubs and swim spas, and the wider outdoor living space.

Our project galleries focus on the pools we’ve built, but the same team delivers every one of those services, across the same areas.

• Can you build a pool in a small garden or with difficult access?

Often, yes. It’s a large part of what we do in South London and the Bromley borough, where gardens are compact and access is tight.

Careful planning matters more than the size of the garden. Our one-piece and bespoke concrete pools are particularly well suited to tricky sites, and we’ll tell you honestly at the survey stage what is and isn’t achievable.

• Are you accredited?

We’re members of SPATA, BISHTA, IPSE, The Concrete Society and REFCOM, and we’ve won multiple SPATA Gold Awards for our pool construction.

Mermaid has been family-run since 1981 and is now in its third generation, led by Steven and James of the Russell family.

• What if I’m outside your usual area?

Please ask anyway. The radius on this page is a guide, not a rule, and we’ve worked well beyond it for projects that were the right fit.

Get in touch with your location and a little about what you’re planning, and we’ll give you a straight answer either way.
