Swimming Pool Refurbishment, Benenden
Our clients approached us to refurbish an existing pool that had become tired, unreliable and increasingly frustrating to manage. The pool was losing water, the surrounding finishes were failing, and what should have been a space for family enjoyment had become a source of concern.
The brief was to strip the pool back, assess the condition of the existing shell and carry out a refurbishment that would restore both the appearance and long-term performance of the pool.
Once the old lining, stone surround and pipework had been removed, we were able to confirm that the pool shell itself was structurally sound. However, the surrounding paving sub-base had voids beneath it, which was causing areas around the pool to collapse. This was fully removed and replaced with a new steel-reinforced base to create a stable foundation.
We then replaced the old pipework, upgraded the lighting and fittings to premium stainless steel options, relined the pool on site and fully upgraded the plant room. An electric auto top-up system was also installed to support the smooth running of the automatic safety cover.
The existing fabric cover had become worn over time, so we replaced both the tracks and cover fabric, giving the refurbished pool proper protection and ease of use. The clients also opted for a new automatic pool cleaner and an ongoing Mermaid maintenance and aftercare package.
The result is a pool that no longer feels like a problem to manage, but a space the family can properly enjoy again. By addressing the hidden structural and system issues, as well as refreshing the visible finishes, the pool has been transformed into a reliable, practical and much more inviting part of the home.
