New Pool Installation

Our clients wanted to create a beautiful outdoor pool that would enhance their property and give the whole family a place to swim, relax and spend more time together outside. The brief was to deliver a pool with real impact, but also one that would be built properly from the ground up.

Early in the project, the geological survey revealed that the ground conditions indicated we would need to rely on our specialist knowledge of concrete pool construction methods. Rather than force a standard approach, we worked closely with the structural engineer to develop a bespoke solution suited to the conditions.

The pool was constructed using a PSS system, allowing us to create a monolithic concrete shell cast in one continuous process. The floor was pressure-sprayed just one hour before the walls were poured, creating a seamless and exceptionally strong structure.

With over 40 years of specialist experience, we know that pool shells need to be tailored to the site conditions if they are to perform properly for the long term. In this case, the chosen method required more labour, more investment and a longer construction programme, but it gave the client confidence that the pool would be safer, stronger and designed to last for decades.

At Mermaid, we do not believe in one-size-fits-all pool construction. Every site is different, and the right solution at the beginning can help avoid costly issues later. By investing in the correct structural approach from the outset, our clients gained peace of mind that their pool had been engineered to the highest standard.

The finished result is a striking outdoor pool with full width step access, within a rather special leisure complex area, with a large pool house, seating and a BBQ area – giving a real wow factor. More importantly, it is a pool built on the right foundations: carefully designed, structurally considered and created for the family to enjoy for many years to come.
